BASQUESSE : A Name to Remember

BASQUESSE : A Name to RememberBasquesse, the female form of the patronimic Basque. Designer and owner, Viviana Pannell picked the name to honour her grandmother’s family who hail from Saint Jean de Luc in the Pays Basque in the south of France. Basquesse’s home is in the magical Northern Beaches of Sydney, Collaroy – hailed as The Hamptons of Australia, it’s an area close to the designer’ heart because of its spectacular natural beauty and the true feeling of community that exists in the peninsula.

The label currently produces ready to wear and couture locally in Sydney, Australia, to their own designs, inspired by nature and manufactured with great care towards the environment and not being a part of the modern day slavery machine that fuels internationally mass produced fashion.

Basquesse offers small and exclusive ranges and custom make (couture), with clientele spread on both sides of the Tasman and far beyond. The fabrications are sourced from luxury boutique mills around the world, with many being exclusive worldwide. Otherwise , exclusivity and uniqueness is attained by timeless yet ahead-of-trend designs, handmade appliques and embellishments that are Basquesse’s signature.

Since calling Australia home, Basquesse participated and was a finalist and winner of 2013 The Spirit of the Black Dress, part of the Melbourne Fashion Festival, has been represented in centre page in Fashions and Flemington by Emily Powers and been selected – each time – as one of a few Australian labels to represent the country in Trade Missions overseas.

A favourite for special occasions, including weddings, races and red carpet events, this spread has a boho-beach style inspiration and has been shot on location at the breathtaking Turimetta beach in the Northern Beaches peninsula of Sydney.

Do yourself and your bridal party a huge favour – investigate Basquesse before you make the final decision on your frocks or gown!
