Chemicals in cosmetics absorb into body in 26 seconds
Start your Spring Equinox detox with Inika Cosmetics
On average, it takes only 26 seconds to absorb chemicals found in cosmetics into the bloodstream.
U.S researchers identified 10,500 industrial chemicals used as cosmetics ingredients, including carcinogens, pesticides, reproductive toxics, endocrine disruptors, plasticizers, degreasers and surfactants.
Spring is the most popular time for people to undertake a detoxification says natural nutritional therapist, Bridget Lem.
“The Spring Equinox is the time for rejuvenation and new life and is a natural time for us to achieve an optimal cleanse with our bodies,” says Mrs Lem. “Detoxing is not only about your digestive system, it’s about cleansing your overall being.
“Given the skin is our largest organ, it makes sense to detox what we are putting on our skin too,” she says.
Inika Cosmetics was awarded one of the highest safety ratings in the world by the Environmental Working Group. All Inika Cosmetics products are certified organic and free of harmful chemicals and Inika Cosmetics CEO Tony Rechtman believes that’s why it’s the best brand to have on your skin 12 hours a day, 5 days a week.
“For those wanting to detox their skin but still wanting to wear makeup Inika is the perfect choice,” says Mr Rechtman.
Originally created by founder Miranda Bond who suffered from endometriosis and infertility, Inika enabled Miranda to detoxify her cosmetics and life.
Three months following her new chemical free regime, Miranda fell pregnant. “Derived of rock and minerals Inika allows for clean living, starting with your skin and it also prevents any possible, and unknown, harm coming from the 21.9 grams of lipstick women ingest per year”, says Tony.
The most common harmful chemical found in everyday cosmetics is the dreaded Bismuth Oxychrloide, – an ugly filler that is chemically connected to arsenic. “You could have a damaging heavy metal element on your face right now without knowing it,” says Mr Rechtman. “People who find their skin to be constantly irritated, itchy, bumpy with clogged pores, whiteheads and extreme blackhead problems are using product that contain Bismuth Oxychloride. In cosmetics, Bismuth is used as a pearlising agent giving a high shine with an unnatural glow that causes foundations to slide off the face if not buffered into the pores,” says Mr Rechtman.
